There’s an article in the tech press in which Jack Dorsey of Twitter fame credits journalists for “uncovering” the Alex Jones content which violated Twitter’s rules after Twitter swore that Alex Jones hadn’t done so, and which resulted in a temporary ban. When Mr. Dorsey was pressed about why he doesn’t have the staff to handle this kind of moderation, he started complaining about how it takes so much money and so much time to do this. Well Jack, it’s not your users’ job to moderate your platform for free, and if you’re not willing to moderate your platform to ensure that your rules are applied across the board, then shut the damn thing down because you are clearly in the wrong business. Oh, and Facebook is just about as bad.
