Social media has ruined search results. I would like a Google operator that allows me to exclude all social media sites from query results. If I want to find out what people are saying on social media about a given topic, I’ll… Wait for it… Search social media.
I can kind of see that. But if I google for example <insert website here> down and get a nice, instant result from people asking ‘is it me or?’ that’s mostly helpful.
Swings and roundabouts I guess but yeah.
For me, the problem is becoming: Put something in quotes to search for the exact phrase. Search results come up. Most are from Twitter or Pinterest, which are most of the time very unhelpful.
Yep, I can see how that would be very irritating.
Totally agree with this. Long ago I started putting in -pinterest to keep from getting @pinterest results because I find them a pain in the ass and worthless. Lol.
it’s sad your ability to make sense isn’t more widely understood on the internet
If you use Google Chrome, you can create a custom search engine to filter out Social Media results. I have a free lesson on this topic: blind.training/xoOzn
I don’t use Google Chrome, unless I’m specifically testing something. There are multiple reasons for me to detest that browser.
