From the “Don’t put that in your mouth!” dept.:

Police in the Australian State of Victoria have warned citizens not to trust un-marked USB sticks that appear in their letterboxes.
The warning, issued today, says “The USB drives are believed to be extremely harmful and members of the public are urged to avoid plugging them into their computers or other devices.”

No, it’s not the Onion.

I’m trying to figure out how this goes.

Person goes and checks the snail mail. Finds a thumb drive they probably weren’t expecting. Do things just jump directly from “I don’t know who sent me this” to “Hey, let’s plug it into the computer and see what it does!”? Or am I over thinking this.
